Empowered Futures

Our Empowered Futures program offers pre-employment transition services (also known as Pre-ETS) to support students with disabilities (ages 14-22) in preparing for a successful future career.

We offer various career preparation services that align with your strengths, interests, and goals including exploring jobs, getting guidance on what to do after high school (such as entering the workforce or applying to college), training on self-advocacy skills, and even assistance in finding hands-on opportunities to learn and get experience in career fields that interest you.

Empowered Futures does not replace your school's transition planning and educational services, it serves as a complement to school supports. Our goal is to address the unique challenges that disabled students face when preparing for employment, exploring post-secondary options, and developing essential soft skills, thereby improving job readiness and future success.

We currently only offer Empowered Futures opportunities to students in Monroe County, New York and surrounding areas.

Disability EmpowHer Network is run by and for girls and women with disabilities, however, our Empowered Futures program is open to all disabled youth, regardless of gender. Beyond High School:
Planning Your Future

June 29 - July 2, 2026

Explore community colleges, universities, and trade programs, discovering pathways post-high school. We clarify each option, accessing disability services, application processes, and funding basics like scholarships and budgeting,
fostering an empowering and inclusive journey.

Self-Advocacy: Confidence,
Voice, Power

July 6-9, 2025

Are you 12 or older and ready to step up and lead? Discover your rights, identify your supports, and learn to advocate for yourself. Develop communication skills that ensure teachers, employers, and adults recognize your potential.

Future Forward:
Career Skills & Exploration

July 13-16, 2026

Students acquire essential work skills, from crafting resumes and cover letters to excelling in interviews and mastering workplace etiquette. Career exploration and hands-on experiences empower them to discover jobs that align with their passions.

Small Group Sessions

Our one-on-one and small group sessions are all about you. Whether you’re figuring out your goals, practicing job interviews, or exploring new interests, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way. These sessions are relaxed, fun, and designed to help you build confidence and skills at your own pace—no boring lectures, just real talk and real support!
