April 27, 2025 - The Disability EmpowHer Network received a $60,000 grant from the Honda USA Foundation to further empower and enrich the experience of those who attend EmpowHer Camp, a transformative, year-long mentorship, empowerment, and skill-building program for disabled young women and feminine-aligned youth ages 13–18.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Honda USA Foundation for this investment in EmpowHer Camp. This support means more disabled girls will have the opportunity to build confidence, leadership skills, and community in spaces that have too often been out of reach. When disabled girls are given access and opportunity, they don’t just participate, they lead,” said Disability EmpowHer Network CEO Stephanie Woodward.
EmpowHer Camp offers a unique opportunity for participants to build confidence, leadership, and independent-living skills while connecting with peers and experienced disabled women mentors. Throughout the year, young leaders begin with a wilderness camping experience, work on a personalized community project with ongoing mentor support, and conclude their journey with a leadership trip to Washington, D.C. that celebrates their growth and advocacy.
“At the Honda USA Foundation, we believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to realize her full potential,” said Emma Ter-Saakova, Sr. Program Officer, Honda USA Foundation. “Disability EmpowHer Network is addressing critical inequities while empowering girls and women with disabilities to recognize their strengths, claim their voices, and advocate for themselves and their communities. The Honda USA Foundation is proud to partner with an organization that is not only closing opportunity gaps but also fostering a powerful network of future leaders who are redefining what is possible.”
