Meet our Alumni

After they have completed their year-long project and reunited in Washington D.C., our young leaders are officially graduates, but that doesn't mean they are done with us! We continue to support them for the next 6 years or until they obtain their first full-time job (whatever comes later).

The Class of 2022

Abby is actively involved in EmpowHer Roc, our Rochester-local group for disabled young women, and regularly recruits friends to join the group. In February 2023, Abby was interviewed and featured alongside our team on Connections with Evan Dawson, a WXXI radio show.

Hannah recently completed Content Creations Lab, a virtual internship with Global Nomads. She works at an elementary after school program and has taken up modeling with Runway of Dreams. Hannah has been going on multiple college visits and completing testing for her applications.

Lily served as a Mentor-In-Training for EmpowHer Camp and continues to provide peer-mentorship to the Class of 2023. She is taking three AP class and exploring college options. They serve on their school's student senate and was the assistant director for the school play.

Mia will be graduating high school soon and plans to attend community college in the fall for web design and computer science. Mia works on social media development for a local business. She is currently a member of EmpowHer Expressions and EmpowHer Roc.

Riley is in an early college program and preparing to finish her high school studies this year. She is the co-chair of her library's tean advisory board and a member of FEMA's youth preparedness board.

Anja is interning with P3 Technologies and is a research assistant at the University of Illinois. She is continuing to pursue freelance writing opportunities and has had several public speaking engagements since EmpowHer Camp. She has recently started the college search process.

Kimi has been interning three days a week in payroll. Over the last summer, Kimi was working in filing and while her job is over she has been brought back throughout the year for various special projects. Kimi is set to graduate in Spring 2023 and looking forward to taking the next steps of adulthood.

Maddie was a mentor-in-training for the EmpowHer Camp Class of 2023. Maddie is focusing on school and preparing to go to college for art and industrial design. Maddie also volunteers in the community in a program called Home Fur Good.

Opal is in college studying creative writing and social work at a community college with hopes of transfering to a larger school in the future. She works at a independent living center doing peer youth advocacy.
