EmpowHer Champions

Our EmpowHer Champions are an elite group of individuals who are dedicated to empowering more girls and women with disabilities. EmpowHer Champions come from all over the country and have many different backgrounds, from students to professionals to activists and everything in between. However, our EmpowHer Champions all have one thing in common: they believe in our mission of helping disabled girls and women to grow, learn, and develop to their highest potential and have the confidence to lead.

Chrys

Chrysanthemum is a proud disabled woman who educates about disability on her popular TikTok account. Chrys is  an EmpowHer Champion because she wants young girls to experience things that she wishes she had access to when she was younger, including a community of support and empowering programs!

Katy Carroll

Katy

Katy is the Chair of the Disability EmpowHer Network Board of Directors. She's passionate about empowering girls and women with disabilities. She previously served as a mentor in our EmpowHer Camp program and now works to help our organization grow so we can help even more disabled people! 

Liz McCormick

Liz

Liz recently graduated with her Masters in Public Administration from SUNY Albany. She is a powerful disability rights advocate and fantastic role model for disabled girls and women. Liz serves on our Social Media and Development Committees.

Saphire is currently studying for her Masters of Liberal Studies, Sociology, and Disability Studies. As a member of our Social Media and Development Committees, Saphire is always looking for new ways that she can help uplift girls and women with disabilties!

Curran Brown

Curran

Curran is our fearless EmpowHer Camp Director. She ensures each Young Leader & Mentor in EmpowHer Camp is supported throughout their  journey.

 

Curran also plans fun activities for us throughout the year, like a Virtual Escape Room & our upcoming Coze Fest! 

Kieran

Kieran

Kieran is a proud disabled writer, activist, and mom of two fantastic girls. She's currently writing fictional disabled stories. Kieran wishes that an organization like Disability EmpowHer Network existed when she was younger and she cannot wait until her daughters are old enough to get involved in our programs! 

Mia

Mia

Mia is a graduate of our EmpowHer Camp Class of 2022 and an active member of EmpowHer Roc! Mia recently started college at FLCC where she is studying web design. For one of her projects, she is creating a marketing campaign for EmpowHer! 

Hannah

Hannah

Hannah is a graduate of our EmpowHer Camp Class of 2022! Since graduating from EmpowHer Camp Hannah has continued to be an amazing leader. She'll be speaking on a panel for the ACL  commemorating 50th anniversary of the Rehab Act & presenting at the APRIL conference in California in October! 

Lily

Lily

Lily is a graduate of our inaugural EmpowHer Camp Class. After graduating, Lily returned as a mentor in training for the Class of 2023. Lily's leadership with EmpowHer Camp continues as she recently accepted a position as an Ally with our Class of 2024!  Her goal is to raise $500 in 2023!

Opal

Opal is a graduate of our EmpowHer Camp Class of 2022 and also serves on the EmpowHer Camp Application Review Workgroup where she helps to decide who is accepted into EmpowHer Camp. Opal is always finding new ways to support and uplift others.

Amy Tweedle

Amy

Amy is a Health & Wellness Advocate at Spa Area Independent Living Services and an outdoor enthusiast!

 

Amy has been a member of our Board of Directors since 2022. She is currently serving as the co-chair of our Strategic Planning Committee and is excited to help more disabled girls and women rise! 

Melanie Oyer

Mel

Mel is a coordinator our EmpowHer Roc programs in Rochester, NY and also serves as a Mentor for our EmpowHer Camp Class of 2024. You can find Mel laughing with our participants in any program that she's in. She brings the party with her wherever she goes!

 

Mel's a goal is to raise $1000 by the end of 2023! 

Jenny Border

Jenny

Jenny served as a mentor for our inaugural EmpowHer Camp class and helped to lay the foundation of empowering many girls and women to come! 

Jenny is a dedicated member of our Development Committee and our EmpowHer Camp Planning Committee. Her goal is to raise $1000 this year!

Sophie Poost

Sophie

Sophie is our Director of Programs and has been a mentor with our EmpowHer Camp program for two years! 

Sophie loves interacting with our young leaders and is currently developing a public speaking program for girls and women with disabilities of all ages! Your donation can help get this program off the ground!

Johiley Meran

Johileny

Johileny is a Mentor for our EmpowHer Camp Class of 2023. She helped all of our Young Leaders create yearlong goals when she taught them about Leader Logs, which are documents that each participant creates to help them visualize their leadership journey! After surpassing her original goal of $500, Johileny has committed to raising $1000 for Disability EmpowHer Network.

Taneeka

Taneeka is the Lead Coordinator for our EmpowHer Roc program. Every month she plans and hosts skill-building and fun programs for teen girls with disabilities. 

Taneeka is regularly referred to as "the coolest person in EmpowHer Roc" and goes above and beyond to help each girl reach her goal. 

Taneeka's goal is to raise $1000!

Stephanie Woodward

Stephanie

Stephanie has set a personal goal of raising $3000 for Disability EmpowHer Network in 2023.

Stephanie has vowed to send stickers to every person who sponsors her!
